About
the Area
As the second oldest city in South Carolina, historic Beaufort exudes old southern charm. Conveniently located between Charleston and Savannah, it provides a location surrounded by rich, southern history. Southern Living named Beaufort "Best Small Southern Town" and Garden and Gun magazine called Beaufort a "Southern Dream Town." The New York Times named Beaufort as one of the "52 Places to Go" (in the world!) in 2016.
Beautiful "Beaufort by the Sea” is known for being a quaint town that exudes immeasurable character, homes with renowned architecture and maintains and astounding level of historical preservation.
Beaufort is the home to infamous Parris Island, the U. S. Marine Corps recruiting station. An Air Station was also transferred to the Marine corps in the 1950’s and continues to operate and expand today. Due to Parris Island, the Marine Corps Air Station, the Naval Hospital and many other important military operations and centers, Beaufort remains a town with deep-seated military roots and remains a military legacy.
Though its "roots" may be old, Beaufort offers many opportunities for today’s lifestyle. Plentiful dining, boating, golfing, arts and modern day living are easily accessible everywhere in Beaufort. It is easy to see why Beaufort is one of the best places to visit and live!
